Leadership Group Coaching for Nonprofit Executives

Re:Form Council

Leadership Reform for Chief Executives of Multi-Arts & Cultural Institutions

Re:Form Council

You love this work. And that’s part of the problem.

You care deeply about culture, community, and what your institution makes possible. You believe in the mission. You believe in the impact.

So when the workload grows, you absorb it.

When something breaks, you fix it.

When the board hesitates, you carry the tension.

When your team falls short, you step in.

And somewhere along the way, you became the system.

You tell yourself:

“I’m lucky to have this job. Plenty of people hate their work. Why am I asking for more support? More income? More space?”

But loving your work does not require sacrificing your health, your family, or your peace.

Nonprofit organizations are critical infrastructure in our communities, representing over $1.5 TRILLION in the economy of the United States alone.

Our organizations fuel local economies, anchor civic identity, and measurably improve community well-being.

They should not require your exhaustion to survive.

Re:Form Council exists for leaders who know something has to change — even if they don’t yet know how to change it.

This is more than productivity coaching.

This is structural leadership reform.

"One of the biggest things I took away from this was realizing...

I matter. How I show up every day has a direct impact."

Before we started working together, I was all over the place—overworked, trying to handle everything, and not really stepping back to think about how I was showing up.

One of the biggest things I took away from this was realizing… I matter. Not just the work, not just the organization—but me. How I show up every day has a direct impact on my staff, on our tenants, on everything we’re building at the VAPA Center.

That shifted a lot for me.

I’m more focused now. I don’t feel like I have to jump into every problem. I delegate more, I think things through differently, and I approach people in a way that actually gets better results. My team and board have both noticed the change.

And it’s not just me—the tools and mindset have carried over to my staff, too. We’re more aligned, more intentional, and honestly, it just feels more manageable now.

I don’t feel like I’m in this alone anymore, and that’s made a big difference.

When I stepped into my role as Executive Director, I found myself in a storm of challenges. My staff and board were in disarray, and our capital campaign was at risk of falling apart. At the same time, I was navigating the heartbreak of my partner Gordon’s terminal illness while he was living abroad in Scotland.

Through my regular coaching sessions with Becky, I learned to set clear goals and shift my perspective. I became intentional about aligning my personal desires with the organization’s objectives. Despite the upheaval of staff and board turnovers, I focused on immediate, weekly, and monthly priorities. The clarity that Becky had taught me to find allowed us to pull off something incredible: we launched a cohesive campaign that brought in our first-ever million-dollar contribution and achieved our full funding goal in just a few weeks.

Once I had stabilized things at work, I knew it was time to prioritize my personal life. I took a private retreat to sort through my thoughts and energy. When I returned, I empowered my staff to take on more responsibilities and carved out time for a sabbatical. That time in Scotland was invaluable. I was able to be fully present with Gordon, caring for him during his final year of life.

I learned from Becky that balance IS possible, even in the most difficult circumstances, and that clarity and intention can create transformative results both personally and professionally.

If we've never met...

I'm Becky Brett.

I’m an executive coach who has spent the last decade helping nonprofit leaders grow their organizations without sacrificing themselves in the process.

After years as a (burned out) nonprofit Executive Director, I saw firsthand how leadership models built on urgency, scarcity, and over-functioning lead to burnout—not because leaders aren’t capable, but because the system itself is unsustainable.

I help nonprofit leaders like you move from carrying everything alone to leading with clarity, support, and sustainability—so both you and your organization can actually last.

If we've never met,

I'm Becky Brett.

I'm an executive coach who helps nonprofit leaders become million-dollar fundraisers. Together we’ve expanded programming, created (and saved) jobs, and positively impacted 1.3 million lives.

To date, I’ve helped more than 150 leaders raise over $37 million. Imagine the impact your organization could have with more resources available!

I would be honored to support you in making this the most wonderful year for your organization!

The Reality No One Says Out Loud

Maybe you’ve experienced something like this:

  • You bring hard data showing you are paid below market rate.

  • The board agrees.

  • And then they tell you they’re not willing to shift resources to change it.

  • You smile. You stay professional. You keep going.

But something shifts internally.

Because you realize:

No one is coming to protect your capacity.

No one is going to invite you to work less.

No board will say, “Please scale back. Please take care of yourself. Please build a system that doesn’t depend on you.”

If anything, the more you deliver, the more indispensable you become.

And the more indispensable you become, the harder it is to step back.

Meanwhile:

  • Your body absorbs the stress.

  • Your immune system weakens.

  • You gain weight.

  • You get sick more often.

  • You feel resentment creeping in.

  • You feel lonely — because no one wants to hear another exhausted executive complain.

This is not a personal weakness.

It is over-functioning leadership culture.

And it is structurally reinforced.

The Truth

You do not need permission to operate differently.

You can choose to lead in a way that does not require constant personal sacrifice.

But that choice requires structural reform that you have the authority to change from the inside.

Because if the structure stays the same, you will keep becoming the safety net.

Re:Form Council is for leaders who are ready to stop being the system and start redesigning it.

What We Actually Do

Inside Re:Form Council, we work on:

🔷Reforming over-functioning leadership patterns

🔷Redistributing authority so you are no longer the bottleneck

🔷Resetting board dynamics so responsibility is shared

🔷Designing operational rhythms that do not rely on crisis

🔷Building institutional maturity beyond your personal capacity

This is not about doing less work.

It is about building a structure that does not depend on your constant intervention to succeed.

Who This Is For

Re:Form Council is for Chief Executives of nonprofit organizations who:

  • Love their work — but are tired of sacrificing themselves for it

  • Feel indispensable — and resent it

  • Have a board that values results but overlooks sustainability

  • Are ready to examine how their own habits reinforce the system

  • Want their institution to mature beyond their personal capacity

If you want hacks, this is not for you.

If you are ready to redesign how leadership operates — inside your institution and inside yourself — you are in the right place.
