Celebrating Community Success: A New Housing Initiative Takes Root🌺

I'm thrilled to share an inspiring milestone from our ohana of clients. This past weekend, Hale Ho'ola 'o Kaimū made their first public appearance at the Hale Hālāwai o Puna cultural mākeke in Pahoa – and what a debut it was!

In just four short months, we've helped this passionate team:

  • Establish their nonprofit organization

  • Develop a comprehensive year-long strategy

  • Secure fiscal sponsorship

  • Launch their mission to create affordable housing for our cherished kūpuna

This is just the beginning of their journey to build a stronger, more supportive community for our local seniors. Stay tuned for more updates as their inspiring project unfolds!

Your Board's Hidden Network: Activating the Connections You Already Have 🔑

Are these words killing your fundraising mojo: "I don't know anyone with money" or "I don't have any connections"?

If you've heard these phrases in your board meetings, you're not alone. Most of my clients are sitting on a goldmine of connections they never tap into until they start working with me.

In my first year with the Highlands Festival, we discovered a 5-figure opportunity simply by mapping out our existing donor network. It was there all along – we just couldn't see it.

Network Blindness is a real issue; it’s not just your board members being difficult. They simply don't recognize the value of their existing relationships.

Lucky for you, help is here! In this week’s livestream, I talked about how to overcome Network Blindness (full video linked below).

Try this at your next board meeting to help them identify connections that could support your mission. It’s called the Power of Three Challenge.

Challenge each member to take these simple steps to identify just three people in their network within 24 hours:

  • One industry peer

  • One potential mentor/advisor (trust me, I explain why in the video)

  • One cross-industry connection

And then commit to take action to connect with these people in the next 24 hours by...

  • Sending a thoughtful text

  • Writing a quick email

  • Leaving a short voice message

  • Connecting or messaging on LinkedIn

I can't wait to hear how this works for you and your board, so reply to this email and let me know!

In case you missed the livestream, this week's YouTube video is out 👇

Please share it with your board members, your executive director, or anyone else who is struggling to think of people to bring into their cause.

Your network is bigger than you think (your hidden fundraising power lies with your connections)
